Kevin
Mathis, a North Texas native and graduate of
Gainesville High School, attended Texas A&M
Commerce before entering the NFL as a Dallas
Cowboy in 1997. Now in his eighth year in the
NFL, Kevin is a leading defensive player with
the Atlanta Falcons. As Kevin has
always believed in the principles of hard work,
faith, commitment and staying focused on one's
goals in order to achieve them, it is Kevin's
desire that others realize their own potential
to reach their goals through the application of
these same principles. With this spirit, Kevin
was inspired to start the Kevin Mathis
Foundation, with the purposes of community
enrichment and providing educational
opportunities to deserving students. Annual
fundraising events enable significant
contributions to such worthwhile organizations
as:
- Cooke
County Friends of the Family,
-
Gainesville High School Football and
Basketball programs, and
- the Cooke
County Youth Center (Boys & Girls Club).
Additionally,
the Kevin Mathis "Stay-Focused" Scholarship
awards several thousand dollars to deserving
college-bound Gainesville High School seniors
who have shown determination, commitment & focus
in achieving their goals--similar character
traits to those in which Kevin attributes to his
professional success. During the
off-season, Kevin also stays busy honing his
entrepreneurial skills as the President of
Another Chance Properties. On a personal note,
Kevin loves spending time with wife, Kimberly
and their two children, daughter Kennedy (3) and
son Kaleb (1) at their home in Colleyville. |
