Falcons CB Mathis has check up coming

Safety Kevin Mathis, who suffered a broken neck midway through the season - the second serious spinal cord injury of his 10-year career - is thinking about trying to play in 2007. "Believe me, if they say I can play, I'll be out there," Mathis said. Mathis didn't require surgery after being injured on the opening kickoff against the Lions on Nov. 5. He'll have a better idea of what the future may hold for him when he's examined by doctors in February.
