It’s always interesting to see how major events influence commerce. Right now, the Pope is visiting the United States, and I just read an interesting article on TIME about the various ways people are cashing in. I’ve also seen pope-related products for sale on the Internet, so it looks like e-commerce companies have joined the bandwagon as well.
Of course, like it or not, this is all part of capitalism. I see nothing wrong with it myself. It’s one thing to profit from a tragedy, but a papal visit is fair game for companies and businesses to try and make some money.
